Africa-Press – Seychelles. A large number of people came to Independence on Saturday for a special event organized by the Sea City Bureau for the Christmas and New Year festivities.

According to the representative of the City Sea Bureau, Lydia Charlie, this activity, including the decoration ceremony in Victoria to start the festivities, this year attracted a large group of businesses.

“This year is really good because we have 72 participants in different categories from what sells linen, home decoration, food, garden products, horticulture and agriculture and even land work. So there is a variety for everyone who is looking for a gift for this holiday season,” Charlie’s wife said.

He congratulated the businesses that said this year they listened to the call to put their products in place on time, and are respecting the agreements that were given so that the activity that went until 6:00 p.m., took place in order.

With the good atmosphere put on by the local radio, SBC, businesses lined up at a place during Independence Day, which is near the Central Bank.

Georgie Belmont was a vendor with a selection of vegetables, spices and flowers. Mr. Belmont says he is used to participating in similar sales.

“It started quite slowly, it’s like that all the time, but only after it gets drunk and normally I feel like selling before the end of the day.”

For Rodney Eliza, who was selling decorative items for the home, he was taking advantage of this opportunity to finish his stock after closing his shop.

“There I am selling the last stocks and I have reduced the prices considerably. Some items that cost R2000 are now selling for R500 and those that cost R350 are now R100. There is interest from customers. I just want to help people get a little gift for Christmas.”

And for this World Cup that is taking place at the moment, there was Richard Souris who was selling gifts for the fans.

“We have pavilions, ‘bandanas’ for all teams, including windshield covers, so we are making sure they have something that represents their team.”

For Lucie Clarisse, who was selling local products, from fried bananas, tangerines and local eggs, sales were also going well.

“At the moment fried bananas are selling well, then banana cakes as well, but I can only confirm that the public appreciates local products.”

The City Sea Bureau reminds the public that sales will continue all week and encourages them to come down and show their support. These activities that will go until the end of December are being done in collaboration with the Enterprise Seychelles Agency (Esa).
