Africa-Press – Seychelles. Madagascar beat Ghana, this Sunday, by 2-1, and starred in the first surprise of the African Football Championship (CHAN ́2023), which takes place in Algeria.
Highest rated in Africa, even though they are teams made up of athletes who play in their respective countries, Ghana was seen as favorites in this game of the first round of group C, played at the Mohamed Hamlaoui stadium.
The Malagasy were still winning by two unanswered balls, with goals from Salomampionona, in the 10th minute, and by Randriatsi Feranda, in the 61st minute. Augustine Agyapong scored for the Ghanaians, at 67′.
Despite being defeated, the statistics show some ascendance of Abedi Pele’s compatriots, with ball possession of 64 percent against 36 of the opponent, 562 passes against 326 and seven corners against one.
With the triumph, Madagascar leads group C with three points, against zero of the opponent, in the fourth and last position. The Morocco-Sudan match was not played due to the absence of the former.
On Monday, the first round of group D will be played, with Angola facing Mali, starting at 5 pm, at the Oran Olympic Stadium.
The second match of the round will take place from 20:00, in the same venue, between Cameroon and Congo Brazzaville., for group E.
