Africa-Press – Seychelles. The United Seychelles Party respects and appreciates your unwavering devotion’

“On this special day, the United Seychelles Party would like to wish all the nurses in Seychelles a Happy Nurses Day. We salute your dedication, hard work, commitment and service to our beloved nation.

“Each year the International Council of Nurses leads the celebrations on International Nurses Day held on May 12, which commemorates the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘A voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect the rights to secure global health’. The United Seychelles Party recognises nursing as a strong pillar of the healthcare system and pledges its resounding voice to support the work and contributions made by all nurses in Seychelles.

“Every occupation in our society deserves to be respected and acknowledged equally. We must acknowledge, however, that the nursing profession requires the most dedication, compassion and patience. Therefore, it is befitting that today we shine a special light on nurses as it is their constant service that fights with deaths and saves countless lives.

“The fight against Covid-19 has been a long and tiring effort for our health professionals especially our devoted nurses on the front line. You care for your patients, you advocate for public health measures, you participate in vaccinating our population and some have even come out of retirement, rising to an extraordinary occasion. At least in one instance, the ultimate price was paid to protect the nation.

“The United Seychelles Party respects and appreciates your unwavering devotion. You continue to rise to the challenge, many times, putting your own lives and that of your family in jeopardy to honour your calling.

“Just as health professionals have a duty of care to their patients, the government also has a fundamental duty of care to the health professionals to create healthy, safe and empowering work environment. The Seychelles United Party calls on the government to recognise the constant sacrifices and hard work of all nurses, who continue to safeguard the health of our nation.

“Once again, thank you all for your service to the healthcare profession.

“Happy Nurses Day to all our modern day Florence Nightingale.
