Commodore Ahmed Hussain (SICM) calls on President Ramkalawan

Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Commodore of the CMF (Combined Maritime Forces), Ahmed Hussain (SICM) from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, called on President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday at State House.

The CMF, which is stationed in Bahrain, is part of the CCTF (Command Combined Task Force) and the Commodore leads the CCTF-151 which counters piracy.

The CCTF comprises a coalition of 30 countries to combat the threat to maritime security. It is a multinational maritime partnership which exists to counter illicit activities on the high seas and promotes security, stability, and prosperity. This is across approximately 3.2 million square miles of international waters, which encompasses some of the world’s most important shipping lanes.

Commodore Hussain stated that the purpose of this first visit to the country is “to meet the delegation and the head of militaries in Seychelles and the president as part of the key leadership engagement programme”.

He added that “we are here to acknowledge the efforts led by Seychelles with regard to maritime security and the collective aim of eradicating piracy and illegal activities at sea”.

The commodore noted that CMF acknowledges the efforts of Seychelles and ensures its continuous support to Seychelles in the future and expects the same from the state.
