Africa-Press – Seychelles. Once again, the Seychelles have achieved a feat with the results of the latest DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) exams. These exams sanction the level of French of an interlocutor. The diplomas, recognized throughout the world and valid for life, are issued by France Education Internationale (FEI) and the courses are given by the Alliance Française des Seychelles.
The DELF contains four different levels: A1 and A2 (Beginner), B1 and B2 (Intermediate). The DALF exams contain two levels: C1 and C2 (Advanced). Obtaining one of these diplomas allows you to know precisely your level in French and to validate your skills with schools, universities and even employers.
They are valid for life and enjoy international recognition. They allow you to officially validate your learning of the French language. These diplomas constitute recognition of your school, university and/or professional career in French. In addition, DELFs and DALFs can allow you to study, work and immigrate to a French-speaking country.
The DELF comes in four categories for different types of audiences. The level is the same but the subjects are of interest adapted to the target audience. The DELF Tout Public is for adults, the DELF junior and the DELF scolaire are for teenagers and the DELF Prim is for children under 12 years old.
In 2022, 1148 candidates from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue registered for the DELF compared to 1122 in 2021. Three people took the DALF tests in 2022, the same number as the previous year. This year, only one candidate took the DELF Prim and successfully passed it.
While the average DELF pass rate is down slightly compared to 2021, the pass rate for DALF enrollees is up sharply (66.66%). The Seychelles thus maintain their level of excellence since the average success rate in the DELF exams for the year 2022 is 96.60%.
According to the Alliance Française of Seychelles (AFS), these results illustrate the work of students and parents but also the unfailing commitment of teachers. The examiner-corrector accreditation training, followed by 17 teachers and organized last May, greatly facilitated the organization of the 2022 examination sessions. The Alliance Française operates the central management of the examinations and is also an examination center. It is also the Alliance Française that organizes the implementation of training systems with, from January 2023, two new qualification courses for examiners-correctors for more than 40 teachers from all schools. Another course is already planned for next April.
French occupies a special place in the Seychelles, it is found everywhere. Sharing a language is an opportunity to exchange, to communicate, to meet. For this, there is no need to speak the language perfectly, you have to understand and be understood, and nothing beats practice! Also, all means are good: reading, music, TV, social networks, radio, etc. This is why in addition to the 40 courses offered at each session, the Alliance Française continues to promote living French by also offering cultural events, holiday workshops, cinema screenings, exhibitions, shows and a media library always full of novelties.
