Africa-Press – Seychelles. The first series of matches in the girls’ division of the Seychelles Schools’ Premier League wrapped up this week with a landslide 7-1 win by Pointe Larue school over their long-time rivals Anse Boileau.

Pointe Larue, proudly wearing the colours of Everton, was tied in first place on the table with Anse Boileau for weeks, in a repeat of last season. However, unlike the previous season, where Anse Boileau, kitted in West Ham colours, took the league title, Pointe Larue proved to be the better team.

Despite their loss against Pointe Larue, Anse Boileau did get a taste of victory in their match against Beau Vallon last week, winning with a 1 – 0 score.

Also, last week, Beau Vallon (Chelsea) fought their way to a 4-0 win against English River (Aston Villa). After their previous few games bore disappointing results, the Beau Vallon team were ecstatic to finally add three more points to their score.

Plaisance secondary school met Persévérance on the Astro-turf field, where, although at first, it seemed as though Persévérance were to take the win, Plaisance bounced back, putting a two-goal margin between them. That same week, Plaisance also played against Pointe Larue but did not fare as well, losing 0-1.

The matches do not end there – the teams will return at the end of August after their one-month break and battle it out in the second round of games.

Girls’ matches’ results

Anse Boileau (West Ham) vs Pointe Larue (Everton) 1-7
Beau Vallon (Chelsea) vs Anse Boileau (West Ham) 0-1
Plaisance (Liverpool) vs Persévérance (Arsenal) 4-2
Pointe Larue (Everton) vs Plaisance (Liverpool) 1-0
English River (Aston Villa) vs Beau Vallon (Chelsea) 0-4
