
Africa-Press – Seychelles. His Excellency Mme Olivia Berkeley-Christman presented this Monday morning the President of the Republic, M. Wavel Ramkalawan, at State House, the Letters of Creance of the Accreditant as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Seychelles, with residence in Victoria.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Monsieur Sylvestre Radegonde, the Principal Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Viviane Fock-Tave, and the Director General of the Division of Bilateral Affairs, Ms. Lindy Ernesta.
During the interview that followed the protocol ceremony of the presentation of letters of credence, President Ramkalawan presented his warm congratulations to the French diplomat and took this opportunity to express the importance that his Government attaches to the strengthening of relations friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
“Your Excellency, it is a real pleasure for me to welcome you here today. I would like to take this opportunity to offer you my sincere congratulations for your accreditation as Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Seychelles. I am convinced that your new mandate will mark a new chapter in the strengthening of friendship and collaboration between our two countries”, he said.
The talks focused on the ways and means of consolidating relations in such important areas as maritime security, the fight against illegal and undeclared fishing, the blue economy, climate change and tourism.
A note that His Excellency Mme Berkeley-Christman succeeds His Excellency Monsieur Dominique Mas whose mandate ended last September. The establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries dates back to June 29, 1976
