Africa-Press – Seychelles. This year’s end of year celebrations will be grander than the past couple of years for most, but promises to be extra special for Seychellois singer and musician Essay Quatre.
Mr Quatre will be celebrating his golden jubilee – 50 years in the music industry – with a live concert, an unmissable entertainment extravaganza on Friday December 30, at the International Conference Centre (ICCS).
The concert will see Mr Quatre performing his greatest and well-loved masterpieces including Linite Parfe, Boner Lanmour and En Vre Lalimyer, among others, alongside a mix of other artists who will join him in performing his pieces, as well as their own musical pieces.
In the spirit of New Year celebrations, Mr Quatre has pulled out all the stops towards ensuring that the concert is the biggest show of the year, the talk of the town and nothing short of show stopping.
Starting off at 8pm, the concert will be followed by a sega and moutya cabaret contest, where fans will have the chance to show off their own talent.
Drinks and snacks will also be on sale on the night.
“Throughout my career I have travelled around Seychelles extensively, and have even been around the region,” Mr Quatre recounted.
Among his most memorable experiences over the fifty years is having his album ‘Welcome to Paradise’ produced by a German producer and publisher, and having it launched on the German market.
Mr Quatre told Seychelles NATION how the German producer stumbled upon him while he was performing in a hotel alongside Patrick Victor, and was approached by the producer. Although the producer disappeared for the following five years and they lost touch, the producer later found a way to get in touch with him, where work commenced to have the songs recorded at the Veuve studio, and sent to Germany for the release.
Quatre’s talent and patriotic charm has taken him as far as Nairobi and India, where he has performed in large hotel establishments.
He has recorded at least 100 songs, six albums, and is still inspired to produce more. Fans can expect an album or compilation towards next year, he added.
Liver performances in hotels and events have also been a significant part of his fifty-year journey. To this day, he still performs, mainly in wedding ceremonies and receptions.
“Music is my all – my future, my past and my present. Music is the one thing that can calm and soothe me, whatever the circumstance. It also pushed me positively and spiritually, it is my life,” Mr Quatre stated.
Despite now being a solo artist, Mr Quatre took the opportunity to thank all of those who have supported him throughout his long and enjoyable career.
The music icon is now preparing for the big concert for which tickets are priced at R300. Tickets are available at the National Arts and Crafts Council (NACC), Camion Hall, Dara’s Plus and from Mr Quatre himself.
