Africa-Press – Seychelles. In the Seychelles, a large hotel from the famous Hilton chain has just been inaugurated on the island of Mahé. With its 120 rooms, it is presented as the flagship of the hotel industry in the archipelago
The Seychelles do not do cheap mass tourism, rather expensive tourism…but also mass tourism. This new hotel, the 6th Hilton built in the country, is not made up of small bungalows with palm roofs under coconut trees. On the contrary, it is a fairly massive, multi-storey structure, occupying almost the entire space of Anse la Mouche on the southwest coast of Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles.
With its huge swimming pools, tennis courts and nautical center, the “Canopy” is a new attraction for tourists from all over the world. The President of the Republic Wavel Ramkalawan cut the ribbon, especially welcoming that the establishment employs 70% of Seychellois staff.
This is a rare occurrence in the country. The majority of tourism workers come from abroad. This time the hotel chain has invested in the training of young Seychellois.
