Africa-Press – Seychelles. Sarep sends best wishes to all teachers and education professionals in Seychelles

“On this International Day of Education, the Seychelles Association of Retired Education Professionals (Sarep) adds its voice to those of other organisations everywhere to highlight the importance of education for peace and development and the indispensable role of teachers.

“More than 250 million children and youth in the world do not have the opportunity to go to school. In Seychelles our young people have this opportunity as a result of the long-standing and continuing importance placed on education by the government and society in general.

“Constant and renewed attention must be given to address the challenges posed in the work to provide quality education relevant to all pupils related to their needs and those of society. The availability of teachers and their continuous professional development are of paramount importance.

“On this occasion and at the beginning of a new school year, Sarep sends its best wishes to all

teachers and education professionals in Seychelles. We commend the young people training for the teaching profession and wish them success in their studies.

“We encourage parents and the community to play an active role in their children’s school life and to support their children’s teachers in the many ways they can.

“Sarep intends to make use of its members’ skills, experience and good will in community actions that will contribute to the overall effort for our nation’s education.

“The importance of education in the county’s development and the nation’s wellbeing cannot be overstressed. We can all make our contribution.”
