Africa-Press – Seychelles. ‘HR shaping the new future’

May 20, is the International Human Resources Day and the theme is ‘HR Shaping the New Future’.

International HR day is an initiative of the European Association for People Management, (EAPM). This day is a day to recognise all the hardworking HR and people professionals be it public, private or NGOs, who work tirelessly to ensure that an organisation’s most valuable asset – its employees – is managed efficiently.

The theme focuses on the role of HR as a profession in leading change to improve working lives. The HR practice has evolved from an administrative function to management and ushering in a new era of employee-centric work culture. Therefore, it is not about slipping back into traditional ways of thinking and working. It implies HR as leading a future that will be more inclusive, flexible, and participative so that workers, organisations, and society as a wholewill benefit.

On this International HR Day, all HR staff are challenged to think about ‘why’ they decided to make a career in HR. Now more than ever, human resource professionals are the people who will make their organisations succeed, and, ultimately, through their work we will continue on our journey to build better workplaces for a better Seychelles.

“Human resources are like natural resources; they’re often buried deep. You have to go looking for them; they’re not just lying around on the surface. You have to create the circumstances where they show themselves” – Ken Robinson.

Happy International Human Resources Day!
