Africa-Press – Seychelles. The chief of mission of the International Organisation for Migration to Mauritius and Seychelles, Céline Lemmel, yesterday presented her credentials to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde.

In welcoming Ms Lemmel to Maison Quéau de Quinssy, Minister Radegonde acknowledged the value of the relationship between Seychelles and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and looked forward to strengthening the cooperation with the organisation.

He also expressed the government’s appreciation for the support that Seychelles has received from the IOM including the setting up of the diaspora unit within the foreign affairs department.

On her part, Ms Lemmel commended Seychelles for its management of migration, including its visa-free-policy, which facilitates cross-border mobility.

She also commended the country’s willingness to engage with its diaspora, noting the commitment of the government at the highest level.

Ms Lemmel is stationed in Mauritius and is accompanied on her official visit to Seychelles by Loganaden Muneesamy, national programme and policy officer for IOM.

Seychelles has been a member of IOM since December 2011.
