Africa-Press – Seychelles. A gold medal to defend for Dylan Sicobo

As the Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecost welcomes the athletes this Monday for the start of the athletics competition of the 9th Games of La Francophonie, all eyes will be on local sprinter Dylan Sicobo, the 100-meter title holder.

It was with a time of 10 seconds 33 thirds (10.33 seconds) that Sicobo won the gold medal in the men’s 100 meters at the 8th Games of La Francophonie in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, in 2017.

For these Games, the Seychelles are represented by four sprinters, namely Sicobo (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Leeroy Henriette (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Sharry Dodin (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), and Caleb Vadivello ( 400m, 4x100m relay), and long-distance runner Ivan Moïse who will take part in the 5,000-meter race.

They are under the guidance of coaches Giovanni Fanny and Joseph Adam.

Note that the Ivorian Arthur Cissé, the vice-champion and silver medalist with a time of 10.34 seconds, is present in Kinshasa, and will do everything to take revenge on Sicobo who beat him in front of his public during the last Games in Abidjan.

Apart from Sicobo who is still nursing a slight injury to his right knee, all the other athletes are in good shape and are ready for competition.

“I didn’t force him in training, but I’ll be flat out on Monday trying to set a good time,” said Sicobo.

The athletics competition – male/female – has featured in all eight editions of the Games of La Francophonie.
