Africa-Press – Seychelles. Sprinters Sharry Dodin and Leeroy Henriette eliminated in 200 meters

Sprinters Sharry Dodin and Leeroy Henriette were unable to compete with their opponents yesterday, leaving the 200 meters competition in the preliminaries, while two losses by ippon in the -73 kg category are the results of judoka Keith Larue during the second day of judo competition counting for the 9th Francophone Games which take place in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Dodin, who specializes in the 200 metres, raced in the second heat of the preliminaries where he finished fourth in 21.48 seconds.

The race was won by Senegalese Fall Sarr who clocked 20.96 seconds.

As for Henriette, who competed in the third series of preliminaries, he finished last in the group of five athletes, with a time of 22.06 seconds.

It was Fode Sissoko of Mali who won the race in 21.04 seconds.

It should be noted that in the 100 meters series run last Monday, Dodin managed only a fifth place in her series with a time of 10.63 seconds, while Henriette finished fourth in her series in 11, 00 seconds.

With Dylan Sicobo injured, Dodin, Henriette and Caleb Vadivello had to withdraw from the 4×400 meters relay, which took place on Wednesday.

If Seychelles hopes to win a medal in athletics at the Games, all hopes rest on the shoulders of long-distance runner Ivan Moïse who will endure the 5,000 meter challenge tonight at the Stade des Martyrs.

In judo yesterday at the Tata Raphael dojo in Kinshasa, Larue, who competed at -73 kilos, lost his first bout in the round of 16 by ippon against Dardan Cena of Kosovo.In the repechage draw, Larue faced the Nigerian Diabri Daouda and he, again, lost by ippon.

Still in judo, the two other athletes, namely Alvin Marie (+100 kilos) and Cheryl Marie (-78 kilos) will be in action today at the Tata Raphael dojo in Kinshasa.
