The first part of the Seychellois delegation comprising officials and participants of the cultural component left the country yesterday to participate in the 9th edition of the Games of La Francophonie which will take place from August 28 to 6, 2023 in Kinshasa, Congo.
The participants of the sports component will leave the country this afternoon.
The secretary general of the National Commission of La Francophonie, responsible for the national file of la Francophonie and vice-president of the orientation council of the international committee of the Games of La Francophonie, Miera Savy underlined that on the Seychelles side, the organization went flawlessly and there was good preparation of the participants. “The fact that the participants in the culture component were chosen in advance, each discipline has its mentor and the participants would be well followed once at the Games. I am in direct contact with the managers of each discipline and we have had good assistance from the International Organization of La Francophonie,” said Ms. Savy.
Every 4 years, the Games of La Francophonie bring together more than 3,000 young people, artists and athletes from the 88 states and governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).
An international event, the Games of La Francophonie are the concrete expression of solidarity and cooperation, founding principles of La Francophonie.
Festive and accessible to the population, the Games of La Francophonie have a unique format combining cultural competitions and high-level sports competitions, opening and closing ceremonies, parades of participating States and governments and numerous peripheral activities.
The Games of La Francophonie are vectors of social cohesion by identifying young participants with the sporting and cultural elite who enrich the prize lists of their countries. The surpassing of oneself, the performance, the excellence of the French-speaking youth from the 5 continents are expressed at each edition.

The cultural competitions scheduled at the Jeux de la Francophonie represent both a unique opportunity to appreciate the richness of French-speaking creation and a wonderful chance for young talents to start a professional career: a real springboard allowing them to acquire international visibility.

The common language of the participating states and governments, French promotes dialogue between participants and with the public.
