Africa-Press – Seychelles. It was with a radiant smile that we were welcomed by the queen of the day, Marie Aline Adela in her residence at Anse François, Pointe Larue.
She was surrounded by some members of this family to attend a small religious ceremony presided over by Father Collin Underwood who gave thanks to the Lord for the 102 years of Mme Adela née Vidot.
Mme Adela had 11 children and she had to raise her children alone after losing her husband in 1963. Her last child was only four months old. Today, Mme Adela has difficulty walking and she needs help to move. She begins to forget the moments of this life.
Talking to the press, she told us “these days I can’t do anything.” In the morning after my little cares, I sat down in my chair and tried to watch television. I eat everything that is given to me. From time to time I also take a small glass of wine. In the past I have worked a lot especially in the cinnamon industry and I know everything to do.
Emotionally, she said that she was very happy to be surrounded by this family. “My advice to all of you is to work hard and may God bless you and give you the grace to live long.”
The eldest daughter Lita, 81 years old, added that the life of this mother was not easy. “She had to take care of us after the death of father and she did her best to feed us and give us education. It was not an easy life, but we all succeeded”.
To celebrate her 102 years, Mme Adela received cakes, baskets of flowers from the office of the President of the Republic; of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and the Family – section of the elderly; the member of the National Assembly Conrad Gabriel; of the Ministry of Local Government; from the administration of the district of Pointe Larue and members of this family.
