Africa-Press – Seychelles. As the chairperson, and on behalf of the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPS), I would like to wish each and every man in Seychelles a Happy Men’s Day. I hope they take this day as an opportunity to reflect on how they can contribute towards making our country a better society. Many men in Seychelles are participating actively in dialogues and other activities so they help us construct a healthy nation and society. We commend them for that. I would also encourage those with certain limitations but who are still trying their best to play their roles in the development of the country.
“It is imperative that our men work in a responsible manner to uplift our communities as they are considered as the pillar and the head of the family. This is not something that should only be said but we need to live it and turn it into a reality. Often times we see that instead of pushing forth to bring a difference in their homes or at work some men tend to sit back blame others or say that the women want to lead in everything; but this is not what we want. We need to work together and complement each other.
The message I want to pass on today is that when we have a woman or a girl in a home trying their best to make things work my wish is that men seize this opportunity to support by showing appreciation for what is being done. We need to work together to better our society. It is important to note that in the civil society sector we have many active men who are giving their best, and is also our wish to see many more of them so they can support what is being done to make a difference in society especially when we are at a time when we are trying to see how we, as the civil society, can do to elevate and support the men and father’s associations.
“We know that without men and fathers our society will not be able to function as it should be. Hence, the men need to position themselves to take their responsibilities in all areas. They should not stay behind and wait for the women to do things for them but instead to support them in doing so. I commend the men who are doing a great job and we encourage those who want to do better to persevere as we want all of them to move forward.
“I also take this opportunity to thank all the men who are on CEPS’ board and those who form part of the civil society sector contributing towards moving this sector forth. We also thank all those who have retired and gone. We acknowledge their contributions and their continuous advice that will keep benefiting this sector and be an inspiration to the young men and generations to come.”
