“Women have a big role to play in society, we carry life and give birth to new beginnings and that translates in our gender role and our work life. Women carry and nurture change, commands passion, teaches and breathes life into everything they do. Women are brave, we’ve fought and still fighting through gender inequalities, misogyny, and misconceptions. We walk through life constantly having to prove to others of our capabilities because we have been pinned as ‘incapable’ of certain things. It is intrinsically part of who we are.
“My message for International Women’s Day in Maritime to other women is; in our quest, let us not forget the importance of carrying positive messages forward, to educate those who were not fortunate to have someone tell them about gender equality, to teach them about how a woman can also be whomever she wants if she puts her heart to it, to help others in their different aspects of life, exchange experience, guide and mentor them. To simply teach them to dream.
“On this day, teach others to dream, teach others to want and desire something that they would never think they would be capable to achieve. Teach them to be achievers.”
