Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change & Environment has said it has received copies of videos circulating online showing staff of the Agriculture department in a government vehicle apparently undertaking dog baiting on private property.
“Since the last public statement on dog control by the ministry in mid-April 2023, the position remains that dog baiting has been suspended and under no circumstances should any officer carry out such operations,” says the ministry in a press release.
“The ministry strongly condemns such action which goes against the position agreed with all parties concerned. The staff implicated in this incident have been suspended pending investigation of the case and the ministry has submitted the case to the Seychelles Police for investigation,” adds the press release.
The ministry has assured members of the public that it is working closely with all parties for an effective dog control programme in the country and should there be a change in our position regarding dog control, the public would be informed.
