Africa-Press – Seychelles. Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has reacted to the death of Bollywood legend Dharmendra Krishan Deol, who passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89.
Modi led tributes on Monday, describing the actor’s death as “the end of an era”.
In a message on his X handle, Modi wrote:
“The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played… Dharmendra Ji was equally admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with his family, friends and innumerable fans. Om Shanti.”
Dharmendra, one of India’s most adored screen stars, enjoyed a remarkable 60-year career with over 300 films to his name.
He became a household name with his portrayal of Veeru in the 1975 classic Sholay, and his versatility shone across romance, action, comedy, and drama.
Born on December 8, 1935, in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, Dharmendra rose from humble beginnings.
