Africa-Press – Seychelles. Drivers going towards Anse Boileau via Les Canelles or Takamaka or towards Victoria via Les Canelles and to Baie Lazare coming from Anse Boileau, have started to use a new diversion road at Anse à la Mouche which opened to traffic at 7pm on Thursday.

The road along the coast which formed part of the main road has now been blocked to make way for the hotel developers (Anse à la Mouche Property Development Ltd) to turn it into a promenade similar to that at Beau Vallon. The promenade will form part of the beachfront four-star 120-room hotel by Qatari investors where locals will have access including to the beach. In the phases of development, the area will also include a village with retail and entertainment facilities.

The road diversion, entirely funded by the hotel developers, starts a few metres higher up just above the Anse à la Mouche junction coming down from the Les Canelles road. It passes in between the construction of the hotel facility, to end at the Anse à la Mouche ice plant situated lower down near the main road on the other side. It takes roughly less than a two-minute drive from one end of the road to the other. The tarmacked stretch of road with two lanes have two roundabouts, two going up and going down, bus stops and pedestrian crossings. Some minor works are still taking place to finish the road infrastructure completely.
