Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Disaster Risk Management Division said following the rockfall incident at Beolière, Port Glaud on Monday morning, one lane of the road has been reopened, with controlled traffic flow, under the supervision of the Seychelles Land Transport Agency.

In a communique issued yesterday the division said the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) has temporarily restored water supply to the affected households. Monitoring in the area continues.

“A large boulder slab remains positioned above the road and is actively being assessed to determine the most appropriate mitigation measures to reduce potential risks,” said the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD), adding that the SLTA continues with debris removal from the road, while relevant agencies are coordinating long-term safety interventions.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously when passing through the affected area, follow instructions from officials on site, and to remain alert to further advisories from the authorities.

Further updates will be provided as works and assessments continue, added the DRMD.
