Africa-Press – Seychelles. On the occasion of LGBTQI+ Pride Month, June 16, 2023 will mark the start of the second edition of the LGBTI Film Festival in Seychelles.

This project, an original idea of ​​the LGBTISey association, brings together different partners to broadcast during the month of June cinematographic works dealing with the LGBTI cause, love, respect and tolerance.

The Alliance Française, in partnership with the French Embassy, ​​invites you on Friday June 16 to the screening of Rafiqi, a Kenyan film by director Wanuri Kahiu.

The film Rafiqi deals with a love story and the homophobia existing within society and suffered by the protagonists. “Rafiqi” means “friend” in Swahili.

In competition in the Un certain regard selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018 and at the Cabourg Film Festival the same year, the film received the prize for female interpretation at the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) in 2019.
