Africa-Press – Seychelles. Ambassador Kenneth Racombo, Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles to the European Union, represented Minister Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, at the 3rd EU-AU Foreign Affairs Ministerial Meeting, held in Brussels on 21 May 2025.
The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and H.E. Mr. Téte António, Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola and Chairperson of the African Union Executive Council.
Ministers approved a joint communiqué which highlighted key areas of progress and renewed commitments with particular emphasis on the following:
Implementation of the Global Gateway Africa-Europe Investment Package
Scaling up cooperation on the blue economy, with a focus on the needs of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), along with commitments to enhance food security, nutrition, and the sustainable development of both continents,
Strengthening cooperation on peace, security and good governance.
The Ministers also engaged in an exchange of views on five topics namely: peace, security and good governance, multilateralism, prosperity, migration and mobility.
This Ministerial meeting is a preparation for the upcoming 7th AU-EU Summit to be held in Africa later in 2025, marking 25 years of strategic partnership since the inaugural summit in Cairo in 2000.
