Africa-Press – Seychelles. Local singer Winsley Cedras steps back on to the music scene with a new album titled ‘Ou Mesaz’.
The artist said through the 15-track album, he wants to share a message of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity.
He said the songs were chosen specifically to convey the pain he went through between 2012 and 2016, through injustice and psychological trauma.
“It is a reflection of life and its challenges. ‘La vie est un combat’, but it also portrays love and motivation. Some of the songs are my own personal experiences,” he stated.
Mr Cedras said his fans will be able to enjoy good music and new titles such as ‘Imen lo Later’, ‘Moutya Zil Marie Louise’, ‘Lo Semen Dibyen’, ‘Montanny Poze’ and the famous ‘Pti Lasirenn’.
The tracks were recorded by Ruben, Nabby and the late Peter Jules at Seyrecords studio and vibez sound.
The artist said it has been in the works since October 2020 and was finalised last month.
According to him, it got delayed due to various reasons including the Covid-19 pandemic and financial constraints.
“I am launching it now because it is the most opportune time,” he said.
He encouraged his fans to buy their copy as “everyone can find a little something to like in those songs as they speak to all ages”.
However he added that it might appeal more to the middle-aged population.
Mr Cedras, whose love for music started when he was 17 years old, said he has produced the album mostly on his own and the whole process was expensive, and this could be his last one.
The artist said he was considering venturing into another field.
“I am a poet and songwriter, but not a musician although I play a little guitar. I may now focus on poems. My next step is to wait for feedback from the public,” he said.
‘Ou Mesaz’ is available on pendrive and CD and is on sale at the usual outlets on Mahé and Praslin, namely Darras Plus on Mahé, Ah-Yune shop and At Aden shop on Praslin. Fans can also buy their copy from Mr Cedras (2505539).
