SRC warns against fraudulent conduct involving the unauthorised use of its name

Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has recently been made aware of a series of fraudulent activities involving certain individuals posing as officers of the organisation claiming to be conducting on-site registration and verification of properties during the weekends in the south western region of Mahé.

The organisation has also been made aware of emails being circulated alleging to be from SRC, requesting taxpayers to click on a link to acknowledge their Tax Identification Number (TIN).

For clarity, in line with SRC’s policy when conducting onsite visit on a taxpayer’s property, the SRC officer dressed in full uniform will display his or her SRC employee identification card, in addition to holding an official warrant authorised by the SRC’s

Commissioner General to the taxpayer, prior to accessing the property.

In regards to email communications between taxpayers and SRC, all email addresses from the organisation ends with the domain name @src.gov.sc

Members of the public are thus being advised that SRC is not associated with any of these activities which are of a fraudulent nature and not to reply to any suspicious emails pretending to be from the organisation.

These activities must be avoided and must be reported to law enforcement authorities immediately.
