Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Seychelles United Movement has extended a heartfelt welcome to Seychelles’ national sports delegation on their return from the 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games held in Madagascar.
In a press release issued yesterday, the party stated that while the results may not have aligned with the country’s expectations, the significance of their efforts and the dedication they have shown were immeasurable and commendable.
“In sports, victories and challenges walk hand in hand, and it is in facing setbacks that true strength of character is revealed. While the outcome might not reflect your aspirations, the journey itself is a testament to your resilience and unwavering commitment to the sport you hold dear,” the statement read.
“We understand the countless hours of training, the sacrifices made, and the dreams that were invested in this endeavour. Every stride, every throw, every jump – they were all expressions of your passion and dedication to your craft,” it stated.
The statement further added that it was important to remember that every athlete faces highs and lows, and it was the way they respond to these moments that defines a person.
“As you return home, it is not defeat that we focus on, but the spirit and determination that brought you to the stage. Your willingness to represent our nation, even in the face of adversity, is an act of true courage and pride. We recognise your efforts as a symbol of unity and strength, and the Seychelles United Movement stands united to offer our support and appreciation,” it read.
The newly-registered party further reminded the athletes that their journey does not end here but was rather a chapter in a much larger story in their pursuits of success in their chosen sports discipline.
“The lessons learned, the experiences gained, and the friendships forged on this path are invaluable, and they will continue to shape your future endeavours”.
“Today, we welcome you back not with disappointment, but with gratitude and admiration. Your commitment to representing our nation is a testament to your dedication and sportsmanship.
Your journey has been supported by a network of coaches, trainers, officials, and families who have stood beside you through every triumph and trial. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are proud of every member of this delegation,” it concluded.
The Indian Ocean Islands games ended on Sunday in Antananarivo, Madagascar after a dozen days of competitions and the athletes started returning to the country last night.
