Africa-Press – Seychelles. The organizers of the 38th Kreol Festival thanked the public for their participation and partners for their generous contributions that they say made this year’s activity a success.

The Executive Director of the Seychelles Creative Agency, Emmanuel D’Offay, said this during a press conference at the International Conference Center yesterday while reviewing the activity, in the presence of the Principal Secretary for Culture, Cecile Kalebi.

Mr. D’Offay said that they are satisfied because there is great public participation in the spectacle with more than four to five thousand people, three full-fledged balls, and the fashion parade and Tifin.

“We have had a massive participation by the Seychellois people and what encourages us is that it took place in peace, in harmony where there is no war and no incidents that have been brought to our attention,” said Mr. D’Offay.

He says even if there are some small failures, in general the activity went well based on the comments they received from the public.

“Not everything is perfect, but there are enough activities where everyone feels like a festival, a creole, and proud to celebrate their creole.”

This year the Kreol Festival took place with a budget of at least R2 million, which Mr. D’Offay says is largely provided by the government and the rest by the ‘sponsors’. He says even if the budget for a festival will never be enough, they have managed to make their payments.

Regarding the number of activities that we have this year, the organizer has once again called the organization to initiate activities that will attract more people. They thanked those who did it, such as the local government department, which ensured that the districts were animated and active, and Mr. D’Offay said that this will continue.

“Fodre, don’t forget that we have a very limited budget and we will gradually get out of this role where we will do activities everywhere. We can’t. But we want people to create and do activities and we become a facilitator and a partner with them.

Regarding the size of the Creole Village and the quality of the products that came before, where there are concerns about the imported products and the rental of the village, the executive director of Lazans Kreativ Sesel said that they have taken this into consideration. He explained that unfortunately for reasons beyond their control, they were not allowed access to the International Conference Center car park where they wanted to do this village and needed to go to the Music Stadium.

Regarding decorations in the city, Mr. D’Offay said that they are listening to public complaints, and for next year they will review the decoration formula, where instead of putting decorations everywhere in the city, they will rather identify key areas and work with different artists. schools, decorators who are interested and decorate these places.

Next year, the Kreol Festival is expected to have a lower number, as more attention will be paid to its 40th edition in 2025, according to Mr. D’Offay. Popular activities such as Tifin and Associate Ball remain on the program. According to activities like the film competition to be launched next year and the participants will have 1 year to work on it, the winner will be announced in 2025. This will give the participants more time to prepare. He says that in 2025 they are also considering organizing a creole carnival that will replace the serenade.
