Africa-Press – Seychelles. A Hyundai H1 vehicle caught fire at Orion Mall in Victoria yesterday, around 11.05 to 11.10 this morning.
The vehicle, which according to reports and witnesses belongs to the company Creole Travel Seychelles, was passing through the car park when smoke and flames started in its engine compartment. In fact, this incident happened just a little bit ahead of the office of the company in this building.
According to Mr. Giovanni Gabriel, a fire and software officer based at the airport who was not working at the time, he was sitting in front of the Licensing Authority office when he smelled smoke.
He said that he noticed that the order was coming out of the transport that passed his yard, and that he immediately saw a fire burning in front of the transport.
“Right away I went to look for an extinguisher and I got one inside the Creole Travel Seychelles office, and I used it to try to put out the fire,” he told the media.
Unfortunately, even if he succeeded in controlling the flames, it was not enough to completely extinguish the fire, but not long after the officers of the Fire and Rescue Service arrived in the area, and extinguished the fire.
The fire was completely extinguished around 11:25 this morning, even though police officers arrived to control the access of motorists, as well as pedestrians around the vehicle.
Mr. Gabriel also added that if there were other tools in the building, such as fire extinguishers and water hoses, he could have done more to put the fire completely under control, or even extinguish the fire faster.
This vehicle is rather damaged in the front of the engine compartment, which is very burnt, while the rear is quite intact.
Some of the other vehicles that were hit have also received minor damage.
