The purpose of this visit was to meet with the new police officers who have recently been transferred to these two islands, to see their concerns and conditions in the area where they are staying, and also to meet with other departments and sectors that work closely with the police, such as the liaison officers of La Digue and Praslin, Health, Port Authority, Fire and Rescue Services, Licensing Authority, Peace Authority, the district administration.
Commissioner Barbe has put a lot of emphasis so that these departments and sectors engage more with the police, and work collaboratively to make sure that they can fight against the illegal activities that are affecting these two islands and strengthen more orders on Praslin and La Digue so that the public feels safer.
Where this new group of officers, the commissioner has put a lot of emphasis on the corrupt actions that happened in the past, and asked them to prevent them from falling into the same trap.
“An independent investigation will be conducted against anyone responsible and legal action will be taken against them,” Commissioner Barbe said.
The commissioner also asked the officers to have a more professional approach to members of the public, more confidentiality at work, productivity and to deliver their work without fear, favor, affection or malice as the police say.
