Africa-Press – Seychelles. It was already ten years ago, the fair exhibition of Dieppe welcomed the Seychelles for its twenty years of existence as guest of honor and headliner, the great singer Dave Sinon who achieved a huge success on this occasion.
Patrick Bordier, the dynamic organizer wanted to reward his loyal exhibitors. The visitors, the curious, the enthusiasts and the buyers were displaced, to be sure to discover a country, which they, for the most part, did not know.
In the footsteps of Caroline Cadot, a young merchant from the Union Commerciale et artisanale d’Aumale had the idea of returning to the Seychelles Stand in order to solicit the Consul to participate in an event in preparation called “Le Marché du Monde”.
The agreement was immediate and that’s how this fête du commerce was born and the town of Aumale and its inhabitants went to discover the Seychelles.
Ten years later, these same actors are back in the prestigious setting of the “Halle au beurre”. Caroline Cadot did not take long to convince all her partners. Several countries present during the first edition were again at the party. Patrick Bordier and his wife have passed from the status of Director. From the Fair of Dieppe to that of exhibitor in this beautiful event. Jean Michel Van Der Hasselt, the famous French specialist photographer in the field of tourist photography, was present at this world market.
By displaying his works concerning a dozen islands of the Archipelago, Jean Michel knew that he would please the visitors. The nature, the sea, the vegetation, the birds, the turtles were featured in a high quality presentation.
This well-commented exhibition has been awarded in several international competitions.
The Seychellois cuisine in the middle of that of Madagascar, the Antilles, Vietnam, Japan and many others has been highly appreciated. The entertainment based on songs, music and dances from the countries of the Indian Ocean enthused the very numerous audience. The demonstrations on Rue des ouvriers demanding wage increases caused a fuel shortage because the service stations could not be delivered on time. This did not disturb the demonstration.
