Africa-Press – Seychelles. Seychelles’ only remaining talent in The Voice Africa Season 1 (TVA S1), Clive Camille will be travelling to Lagos, Nigeria, mid-September to resume production of the popular music competition.

An initiative of Airtel Africa in partnership with FAME Studios Africa, production of TVA S1 was halted for two months, due to unforeseen events in Nigeria and on the African continent.

The remaining 30 or so competitors will be battling it out in the knockout round, the production of which will last for four weeks in October.

“This time around, I am calmer, better prepared. I am in contact with my voice coach and my music director and we have finalised the song selection which I will practice once I get there,” he said.

In the meantime, the vocalist has been hard at work on the local front, and will soon be releasing the first of the ‘Gramophone’ albums, aiming to revive timeless Creole classics.

Despite having some solid music experience, the competition is only getting tougher, with some strong talents from other participating countries, namely Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Madagascar, Congo Brazzaville, Chad, Rwanda, DRC, Niger, Nigeria and Gabon.

“Frankly, it is a little bit intimidating since the contestants have different styles. I am going to try my very best to at least get through the knockouts,” Mr Camille added.

Mr Camille’s coach is Nigerian afro-pop singer and songwriter Yemi Alade.

Should he make it out of the knockout round, Mr Camille will return to Nigeria for the final leg, the live shows in November, and returning to Seychelles in December.

Mr Camille was one of eight Seychellois selected to take part in the show, launched in October 2022. They all had the opportunity of travelling to Nigeria for the first leg, along with selected participants from the 13 countries.

TVA S1 debuted in March, 2023.

“It is very different. The culture is different, the food and way of life is different. People from 14 countries and cultures, and I did not adapt so easily,” he remarked.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION, Mr Camille seized the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported him on the journey, including the other Seychellois participants who were on the journey with him.

He also expressed gratitude towards Airtel Seychelles, for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The ultimate winner of TVA S1 will win US $100,000, as well as a music contract.

The Voice is a hugely popular music and entertainment show globally, airing in over 180 countries.
