Africa-Press – Seychelles. The United Seychelles Party joins global partners and local communities to commemorate World Aids Day under the theme ‘Equalize’.

“This day reminds us that we must treat people with Aids with respect and equality.

“With only eight years left before the 2030 goal of ending Aids as a global health threat, United Seychelles joins the World Health Organisation in calling for international solidarity and bold leadership from all sectors to ensure we get back on track to end Aids.

“HIV/Aids remains an acute communicable disease in Seychelles. We must stay committed to achieving vital global targets to ensure that people living with HIV know their status, are on treatment and are virally suppressed. There should be more efforts to implement effective

biomedical prevention interventions at scale and for better HIV treatment and care outcomes.

“The Covid pandemic has slowed down efforts for those seeking treatment for HIV in many countries, including Seychelles. We should ensure that key populations do not bear the brunt of increased stigma and discrimination as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and that essential

HIV services reach those who are most at risk.

“Let us strengthen the support to weaken the spread of HIV/Aids.”
