Africa-Press – Seychelles. ‘A golden heart has stopped beating’ says party leader Patrick Hermimie.

“The United Seychelles mourns the passing away of one of its prominent members, former Vice-President Joseph Belmont.

“VP Belmont, as he was affectionately called by party cadres, was a man of great humility, a patriot and a humanitarian at heart.

“He is best remembered for the avant-garde role he played in the fight for social justice and the elimination of poverty in our beloved country.

“VP Belmont’s political career predated our independence. His political astuteness, exceptional emotional intelligence and academic aptitude ensured that he rose through the ranks of the party and government to eventually become the Vice-President of his country.

“Seychelles has indeed lost a great son who will be recognised by history as a man of resilience, fairness and integrity.

“On my own behalf and on behalf of the United Seychelles, I send healing prayers and comforting thoughts to the families and friends of VP Belmont.

“A golden heart has stopped beating.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
