Africa-Press – Seychelles. Seychellois photographer and musician Vanessa Lucas proudly represented Seychelles in a regional music project from August 3 – 17.
The ASSA OI project, a regional initiative designed to promote the integration and representation of women in the music industry, took place in Mauritius.
Led by OXIDE Consulting Agency in partnership with the Institut Français de Maurice, and supported by Kafe Kiltir Moris, the project comprised three components – artistic residency for two weeks, residency presentation in the form of a concert and a workshop with the students from the University of Mauritius.
The project involved creating a musical ensemble composed of female artists from the Indian Ocean and Mozambique, guided by a music coach from La Réunion. The Indian Ocean island states being represented were Mauritius, Seychelles, La Réunion and Rodrigues.
Despite their diverse musical background, the musicians and singers collaborated intensively, exchanging ideas, and experimenting with sounds and rhythms.
