Africa-Press – Seychelles. On June 24 and 25, 2025, the Star Cinema in Bagatelle (Mauritius) hosted a unique regional meeting under the theme “Towards Safe and Inclusive CCIs in the Indian Ocean,” bringing together professionals, institutions, and artists from the region around a common goal: to jointly rethink the cultural and creative industries (CCI) ecosystem to make it a space of respect, safety, and inclusion.
Organized by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) as part of its regional CCI project, this event provided an opportunity to take stock of gender-based and sexual violence in the cultural sector while initiating a collective effort to propose concrete solutions. The Director of the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design, Ms. Christine Chetty Payet, actively participated in these discussions as an artist, educator, and agent of change.
