Africa-Press – Seychelles. Vijay Patel yesterday handed over the keys of the newly completed NIHSS building to the Minister for Health, Peggy Vidot.
This was in the presence of the President Wavel Ramkalawan, Vice-President Ahmed Afif, the principal secretary for Health, Dr Bernard Valentin, and the director of NIHSS, Ebrahim M. Ali.
The building comprises nine classrooms – two large ones and seven regular classes – with laboratories, and other office spaces. Now the Ministry of Health will continue with the landscaping and electric work.
Minister Vidot expressed her satisfaction and noted that the finishing is just amazing.
“This building will cater for our needs to function as NIHSS. We are working to shift and open the building around January 23 as we still have adjustments to do.”
Minister Vidot also shared that the area occupied by the previous NIHSS at North East Point will be converted back to the hospital for chronical cases.
Mr Patel noted that they made an agreement with the government and they delivered the project in 10 months. “There were no major obstacles as we did all the renovation work and added another level.”
Mr M. Ali shared that the transition will begin as they start the New Year. “Many of our students stay in the south and moving here closer to the hospital make the location ideal for the students and even for their practice.”
Following the visit to the newly completed NIHSS building, President Ramkalawan has expressed his sincere appreciation to Vijay Construction. “I am extremely satisfied and thankful to Vijay for this gift to our children and to our nation. We recognise that this is one of the biggest gifts ever given by a member of the private sector to the country, and the nation is ever so grateful.”
President Ramkalawan visited the site three times during the year while it was still under renovation.
Currently there are around 240 students following different courses at the NIHSS.
