On this special occasion whereby we are celebrating national Children’s Day, the ministry takes this opportunity to wish all our children an enjoyable day full of love, happiness, fun, and laughter. There is nothing more precious as a parent, than being in the company of our children, so let us take this day, to make a special effort to spend quality time with our children.
“Our message today goes especially to all sectors and key players involved in safeguarding our children; let us do better to ensure we have a safer environment for our children. Let us today, take a pledge to work together and tackle abuses that are currently a plague in our society.
“Our plea is for all organisations involved to find ways to work in a more systematic way, identify and close gaps, and put in place a mechanism that will ensure that when red flags are raised, these are picked, and that mitigation and prevention measures are put in place.
“We would like to reiterate that the home should remain the best place for our children to feel secure and safe. A home should be the place where our children feel loved, appreciated, and valued by not just the mother and father, but other members of the family as well.
“Let us all play our part. We need to nurture our children right for a bright future. Let us provide them with not only a safe and secure environment but let us make wonderful memories together that will last them a lifetime.
“Together, we will continue to ensure that the government continues to put in place the right policies and programmes to guarantee children’s rights and protection while also promoting their well-being and holistic development.
“As a nation, let us take a stand and SAY NO MORE Child ABUSE! Happy Children’s Day to all our children!”
