Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Chief Justice Komba Kamanda has assured the Judiciary of Sierra Leone of his commitment to leading with fairness and transforming the institution.

In his first address to judicial staff since his December appointment, he emphasized delivering justice without bias and ensuring prompt case resolutions across all court structures.

Chief Justice Kamanda promised promotions and professional opportunities to staff demonstrating commitment and warned against laxity in duty.

He also directed that bail approvals should be handled swiftly to avoid delays in the release of qualified accused persons.

Hon. Justice Jamesina King and Hon. Justice Tonia Barnett supported the Chief Justice’s vision, reiterating the importance of the judiciary’s core values and adherence to best practices. The Master and Registrar of the High Court emphasized proper procedures for handling court files and generating revenue through file searches.

Judicial staff expressed renewed hope and pledged their support for the Chief Justice’s reforms. Additionally, magistrates’ courts were instructed to begin sittings promptly at 9:00 AM, with registrars arriving by 8:30 AM, to enhance efficiency and public trust in the judiciary.
