Sierra Leone Declares Public Holidays for 2026 Easter

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Government of Sierra Leone has declared Friday, 3rd April and Monday, 6th April as public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

This was contained in a public notice from the State House released today Thursday, April 2, 2026.

The notice reads: “The General Public is hereby informed that the following days have been declared as public holidays throughout the country:

“Friday, 3rd April 2026 – Good Friday

“Monday, 6th April 2026 – Easter Monday.”

Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence.
