Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone House of Parliament has on Wednesday, 9th April, 2025 approved Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu as Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Belgium after his appointment on the 13th of November 2024.
Report has it that Bob Jusu is not a stranger to Belgium and the European Union, confirming that he has spent eleven years at the African Union, including six at the AU Permanent Mission in Brussels as Principal Adviser to the Permanent Representative and Group of African Ambassadors, where he provided strategic guidance on socio-economic issues within the AU-EU Partnership framework.
Ambassador Bob Jusu has embraced his appointment deeming it as an honour. According to the engagement following his appointment, the appointment should not be taken for granted, particularly in the service of the country.
Jusu shared that he came from a different background in diplomacy, including multilateral, economics, and technology diplomacy, which he said he had employed while working with the UN, AU, and Google.
The Ambassador confirmed that Brussels is the hub for all the above-mentioned diplomacies, adding that, “with my background, my role will be to leverage on these institutions, and also to identify the challenges we are faced with in Brussels, as well as the other countries of accreditation and how we can work to surmount those challenges.”
Prior to his Parliamentary interview held on the 9th of December 2024. according to report, Ambassador Jusu was Manager, Africa Strategic Partnerships at Google, where he cultivated and strengthened relationships to advance Google’s objectives in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Reportedly, Ambassador Philip Bob Jusu began his international career with RMS Refugee Resettlement in New Zealand, where he focused on refugee resettlement and integration, asserting that he then transitioned to the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), where he worked on human rights and equality.
