Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone U-20 captain Momoh Kamara is emerging as a standout star at the 2025 AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt, following his second consecutive Man of the Match award.
Kamara, who plays for Minnesota United, played a key role in Sierra Leone’s 1-0 victory over Tanzania on matchday three, earning him the best player accolade for the second straight game. He currently leads the tournament’s goal chart with three goals.
Sierra Leone has now made history by advancing to the AFCON U-20 quarter-finals for the first time, after Egypt’s goalless draw with Zambia confirmed their qualification. Kamara’s leadership has been instrumental in the team’s success.
“Our ultimate dream is to take Sierra Leone to its first-ever U-20 World Cup in Chile,” Kamara said. “I’m ready to give everything on the pitch to make that happen.”
With one group match remaining against South Africa, the team has already secured a place in the knockout stage. A win in the quarter-finals could secure their spot at the 2025 U-20 World Cup.
From underdogs to serious contenders, Sierra Leone’s Shooting Stars are rewriting history—with Kamara leading the way.
