Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Senior Women’s National Cricket Team in Sierra Leone, known as the Female Patriots, will depart the country on Sunday, April 20, 2025, to Botswana for the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 Tournament.
According to the itinerary released by Cricket Sierra Leone, the team will first travel to Conakry, Guinea, where they will spend the night before flying to Botswana on Monday, April 21, through Ethiopian Airlines. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Gaborone and will feature four participating nations which are host Botswana, Sierra Leone, Eswatini, and Kuwait.
The tournament is set to run from April 26 to April 30, and will follow a round-robin format, with each team playing four matches. The tournament will bring together 70 of the best female cricketers from the participating countries, competing for success.
On the opening day, April 26, Sierra Leone will face Mozambique at 8:15 AM (Botswana time) on Oval 2. Host Botswana will play Eswatini on Oval 1. Later in the day, Botswana will meet Mozambique at 12:00 PM on Oval 2, while Eswatini takes on Kuwait on Oval 1.
The match will continue on April 27, with Sierra Leone facing Kuwait in the morning session at Oval 1, followed by a key encounter with hosts Botswana in the afternoon on Oval 1. Other fixtures on that day include Eswatini vs Mozambique and Kuwait-vs Mozambique. April 28, as scheduled, will be a rest day for all teams, before the tournament resumes on April 29.
Sierra Leone will take on Eswatini on Oval 2, while Botswana plays Kuwait on Oval 1. The final day, April 30, will feature the third-place playoff and the championship final.
This will mark the country’s second show up at the BCA Kalahari tournament. The team made an impressive debut in the past returning home with the runner-up trophy.
Crispin George, Acting General Manager of Cricket Sierra Leone, has unveiled the final list of-14 players representing Sierra Leone. Team Captain Aminata Kamara assured the country that-the Patriots are focused and determined to go one step further this year.
“Our target is clear-we are going for the championship and gold medals,” she said.
