UNDP Empowers 200 Young Women in Solar Skills

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The United Nations Development Programme and its Partners had empowered 200 Sierra Leone Young women in Solar installation skill training.

200 young women have been trained in solar installations through the SHINESALONE Project, implemented by SEND – SIERRA LEONE with support from Green Solar Africa, and are now stepping into the next exciting phase of their career journey.

The goal of this initiative is for these women to build on their skills and boost economic empowerment. Furthermore, that is why a comprehensive follow-up support programme has been launched.

This next phase will help the women transition into green jobs and entrepreneurship through advanced training in solar business, cooperative development, professional certification, and mentorship.

Finally, the initiative was not just about training, it’s about creating real opportunities, promoting gender equality, and expanding access to clean energy in Sierra Leone, advancing DG5, DG7, and SDG8. According to UNDP in Sierra Leone.

A gender equal society needs empowered women and girls who take control of their lives, make their own decisions, and succeed in their chosen pursuits.
