Sierra Leone U-20 Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara Reacts to Opening-Day Draw Against Zambia

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The head coach of Sierra Leone’s U-20 National Team, Shooting Stars, Mohamed Lamin Kamara, has shared his reflections following his side’s goalless draw against Zambia on Sunday in their opening match of the CAF TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Reacting after the match at the Suez Canal Stadium, Coach Kamara admitted that while the result was not the ideal start they had hoped for, the team remains focused and determined.

“The outcome doesn’t please us completely, but we will study the game and pick apart certain critical moments,” Kamara stated. He acknowledged that despite enjoying more possession, the Shooting Stars struggled to find the back of the net — a concern he said they must urgently address before their next matches.

Looking ahead, Kamara pointed to the tough task awaiting his side as they prepare to face hosts Egypt in their next Group A encounter. “To advance, one must defeat the finest in the field. We’re up for the challenge. Our last three games give us plenty more to play for,” he affirmed, expressing optimism about the team’s chances to progress.

Meanwhile, debutant goalkeeper Mamadou Wurie Jalloh of IF Bromby was satisfied with his performance, having kept a clean sheet on his CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations debut. Jalloh voiced his confidence in the team’s potential, stating that Shooting Stars have the strength and determination to push for victories in their upcoming matches and secure a spot in the next round.

As the tournament continues, the spirit in the Sierra Leone camp remains high, with players and technical staff echoing the rallying cry:

“Together, We Rise. Together, We Roar!”
