Vice President Juldeh Jalloh Urges Sierra Leoneans to Embrace Ownership of Nation’s Future

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, speaking at the Salone Day National Symposium on Monday, 28th April, 2025, called on all Sierra Leoneans to take bold ownership of the country’s future as they celebrate the 64th anniversary of independence.

During his address, Dr. Jalloh emphasized that independence is not merely a milestone but an ongoing journey for the nation.

“Independence for a country like Sierra Leone is a journey; imperfect in many ways but necessary to deliver a future where the aspirations of past and generations unborn converge around the hope of a more prosperous tomorrow,” he stated, urging citizens to see themselves as active custodians of their nation’s destiny.

Highlighting the significance of innovation in governance and the unity amongst the people, Dr. Jalloh called for a renewed commitment to self-determination and national development. “The value of celebrating Independence Day is that it serves as a constant reminder of the task we inherited, the task at hand, and the task ahead,” he remarked.

Emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility, Dr. Jalloh invoked the theme of “One Country, One People, One Destiny.” He urged Sierra Leoneans to awaken to their roles in citizenship, leadership, and service, reinforcing a vision of resilience, creativity, and solidarity in building a more inclusive and prosperous nation.

The Vice President’s address is deemed to serve as a strong appeal for Sierra Leoneans to work together towards achieving a brighter future as the country continues on its journey of progress and unity.
