Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) officially launched its FIFA Member Association (MA) Course for Referees and Instructors on Monday, June 16, 2025, in Bo City.
The intensive training program, running until June 25, 2025, aims to enhance the capacity, technical skills, and physical performance of Sierra Leonean football officials.
The course has drawn 30 elite referees and 25 instructors, who will engage in a rigorous curriculum. Leading the international facilitators are Evangelist Felix Onias Tangawarima from Zimbabwe and Cherifi Nasreddine from Algeria. They are supported by local facilitators Alhaji Sanusie Rashid, Alhaji Abdul Rahim Sanusie, and Zainab Wilson.
Dr. P.K. Muana, Acting Chairman of the Referees Committee, officiated the opening ceremony, commending both the participants and facilitators for their commitment to elevating refereeing standards in Sierra Leone.
In a historic first for Sierra Leonean football, all participating referees successfully passed the mandatory FIFA fitness tests, achieving a 100% success rate. This unprecedented accomplishment marks a significant milestone in the country’s refereeing history.
The SLFA has reaffirmed its dedication to improving officiating standards through ongoing professional development and international partnerships.
