Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Tensions are escalating at Njala University’s Bo Campus as numerous students were forcibly removed from the exam hall due to unpaid fees.
The situation has sparked outrage among the student body, who argue that education should be accessible to all, regardless of financial status.
Joseph, the Student Union President, expressed his frustrations regarding the matter. “I’ve done everything within my power. Still, many students are suffering. As of yesterday, some were denied access to exams,” he stated.
According to Joseph, he has made multiple appeals on behalf of the affected students and has even reached out to the Minister of Education, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, in hopes of finding a resolution. However, he reports that no solution has been offered thus far.
The students are now calling for urgent intervention from the government, emphasizing that education should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it.
As the situation develops, students and are urging authorities to reconsider policies that lead to such exclusions, highlighting the need for a more equitable approach to education funding and student support.
