Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone has taken a significant step toward enhancing access to basic services with the launch of a nationwide initiative focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
President Julius Maada Bio officially launched the Multiphase Programmatic Approach for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene at the Freetown Conference Centre. The program aims to improve access to clean water, safe sanitation, and hygiene services across the country, with a focus on promoting public health and sustainable development
The program will be carried out in phases and aims to build reliable infrastructure in both urban and rural communities. The goal is to make sure every Sierra Leonean can access safe drinking water and proper sanitation facilities. It’s part of the government’s broader plan to improve daily living conditions and public health.
President Bio shared that his administration is fully focused on getting this done. He said they are taking real steps to make clean water and sanitation available to all, and that this is something the government sees as a core responsibility.
He also thanked the country’s partners for their continued support. He gave special recognition to the World Bank for standing by Sierra Leone and helping push the country’s development efforts forward.
With this launch, the government is setting its sights on long-term improvements that reach every corner of the country. The program is expected to bring lasting change in how communities access clean water and sanitation services.
