Mile 91 Launches Township Cleaning Initiative

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. In a bid to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, the Paramount Chief of Yoni Mamaila Chiefdom, PC Sebora Thelleh III, and Hon. Aaron Koroma, Member of Parliament for the area, have joined forces to organise a community clean-up exercise in Mile 91.

The event, which took place on July 5, 2025, saw various youth groups gather to clean major streets and strategic areas in the township. The clean-up exercise focused on Bo Road, Freetown Road, the main junction, and other key areas.

According to Hon. Koroma, the idea for the clean-up exercise was initiated by PC Sebora Thelleh III, who expressed concern about the town’s filthy state. The MP assured the Paramount Chief of his unwavering support and donated eight trash cans to facilitate waste disposal in public places.

“I was informed by the Paramount Chief about the state of our town, and I gave it a second thought. I’m happy to have supported this initiative, and I believe it’s a step in the right direction towards keeping our community clean,” Hon. Koroma said.

The lawmaker thanked the Paramount Chief for the initiative and the youths for their active participation in the clean-up exercise.

PC Sebora Thelleh III, in his address to the youths after the exercise, expressed happiness and thanked Hon. Koroma and the youths for their cooperation and collaboration. As the community’s traditional leader, the Paramount Chief pledged to continue initiating programs that would benefit his people.

“We are committed to working together to make our community a better place. I appreciate the MP’s support and the youths’ enthusiasm. We will continue to work together to address the needs of our people,” PC Sebora Thelleh III said.

The clean-up exercise is a testament to the power of community leadership and collaboration in promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the community, and residents are encouraged to maintain the cleanliness of their town.
